This little lamp actually gives out enough light to read or work by IF what you're looking at is within the relatively small radius of light. I like that the base takes up almost no surface area, yet the bottom is weighted heavily enough that there's little danger of knocking it over accidentally. I must say that the dragon fly is bulkier (and therefore not as pretty) as it appears in the picture, but it's still cute (and a good deal for the price).
